Who am I?
I am Peter Martin, I grew up with a love for mechanisms, transmissions and really anything that can be disassembled and improved. I spent my time in high school giving myself projects, each one expanding my skillset, and design abilities.
These projects were not limited to my self and my imagination, often times a project with the same proposal is built by my friends, we each make our own (because we want or own, sharing is hard if only one person gets to have fun at a time). Throughout, we collaborate, spit-balling ideas to each other. In the end, we make design choices that have been passed through the creative minds of several of my peers and friends. Designing, fabricating and engineering is the keystone of a majority of my friendships, we have bonded over sharing our methods and reasoning, and in the end it has brought us closer and has made us better thinkers. Being in a team is essential to success, and the work that I have produced cannot be credited to just myself and my personal experience, but to my friends, their suggestions and our cumulative experience.
I’ve always enjoyed design challenges, this can be seen in projects with limitations, whether it is space, power, material properties, and especially cost. As a high school student building things on a budget, I learned what it took to cut cost but not quality.
What am I searching for?
I am in search of opportunities where I can utilize my experience in fabrication, design, material behavior and manufacturing feasibility in new and growing industries.

Education
I graduated Palo Alto High School in 2019, and am currently a standing Junior in RIT’s 5 year program for a BS in Mechanical Engineering.
Team Involvement
Robotics, 2015-2019
I was a part of the build sub category of my High School robotics team, FRC team 8. I joined the Paly Robotics Team as it was an opportunity to be apart of a STEM extracurricular. I joined my freshman year, and had remained a build team member to better be apart of the collaboration, design and manufacturing process. As a build team member, I would collaborate with the design team, and design choices, advising changes to be made if there were a possibility for failure or error. During the prototyping stages I would use SolidWorks to rapidly prototype intake designs, making parts on a laser cutter, CNC router, and 3d printer. During the build season I was a manual mill and manual lathe operator. I had a constant interaction with the designers about feasibility of processes and weak points in design and would take part of iteration meetings. I would also request changes and advise routing decisions for wiring so as to maintain organization, quality insulation, and strain relief.
